Urban Union

Urban Union, BAMO’s first commercial project in the Pacific Northwest, redefines the workplace as a destination. Located in Seattle’s South Lake Union district, the Class A+ tower has a hospitality-driven approach, designing flexible spaces that are inviting and distinctly modern that blur boundaries between work and gathering. Every detail was conceived to attract top talent and create a modern workplace that is as engaging as it is functional. From the iconic blue cube entry to the rooftop conference center, the building creates a seamless flow between work, collaboration, and community.

“While the welcoming gesture is convivial, the purpose is pragmatic: giving tenants a competitive edge, though design, and attracting other likeminded companies.” Mark McMenamin Interior Design Magazine

Bold Gestures

The building’s iconic blue cube announces Urban Union with a glowing street presence. Designed by Kate Maestri, its gradient glass panels suggest a contemporary take on stained glass.

Inside, a sculptural, origami-like wall of reclaimed American white oak, once part of a Missouri train trestle, rises overhead and spills across the floor, creating a canopy effect that anchors the great room. Developed from hand-folded maquettes and refined in 3D, the installation combines craft and innovation, balancing spectacle with serenity.

Urban Union extends BAMO’s hospitality expertise into the workplace, delivering spaces that support productivity, collaboration, and well-being. Tenants and visitors move seamlessly from a welcoming lobby and great room into a variety of social and focus zones. Amenities include a rooftop conference center with panoramic views, a best-in-class fitness facility, and a flexible great room designed as a “third place” for work and gathering.

Materiality grounds the experience: warm woods, sculptural details, and layered lighting create an atmosphere of calm energy rather than corporate formality. By choreographing each space with intentional flow, BAMO designed an environment that reflects both Seattle’s innovation culture and its Pacific Northwest spirit—natural, crafted, and forward-looking.

“We wanted Urban Union to feel both transparent and dramatic — grounded in a few big ideas that transform the workplace into a place of inspiration that welcomes people in, encourages connection, and reflectshe vibrant energy of South Lake Union.” Anne Wilkinson BAMO, Principal
