Palo Alto
Set in Northern California, this 1925 Spanish-style residence had lost its original grace to decades of unsympathetic additions. BAMO was brought in to restore the home’s spirit and reimagine its interiors with a fresh perspective.
The result is a layered, character-rich retreat that honors the building’s historic charm and the client’s creative openness.

An Aquatic Reverie
The master bath, framed by a lacquered hallway in sea-glass green, unfolds into a serene, gallery-like space designed for rest and ritual. White lacquered doors open to reveal a luxurious palette of whites, grays, and punctuated by moments of brass and black.
The BAMO team was given complete creative freedom — a rare and energizing directive. An aquatic motif, chosen as a subtle nod to the client’s love of fishing, wraps the room in a sense of quiet wonder. The de Gournay wallcovering became the launching point: sea turtles glide across metallic paper in rhythmic motion, mirrored by a hand-laid medallion of circular SICIS floor tiles that the client first spotted during a factory visit in Italy.
The resulting spa-adjacent primary bathroom is both a continuation of the home’s elegance and an evocative moment of its own.
When BAMO took on the renovation of this Palo Alto home, the brief was refreshingly open: preserve the character, elevate the design, and reimagine the interiors with thoughtful coherence.
The team focused on reinstating the home’s original proportions while integrating new spaces that feel rooted and refined. This meant carefully navigating transitions between old and new, layering in luxurious materials, and customizing every element, from the millwork to the light fixtures, to ensure continuity and contrast in equal measure.
The home stands as a testament to the power of vision, collaboration, and trusting the design process.
