CapitalG

Once the bustling upper concourse of San Francisco’s Ferry Building, this historic space is now home to CapitalG, Alphabet’s growth investment fund. For a firm grounded in relationships and transformative ideas, BAMO crafted a hospitality-infused workplace that reflects CapitalG’s culture of clarity, curiosity, and discovery balancing the energy of innovation with a deep sense of welcome.

Celebrating Success
Through Space

CapitalG’s office was designed not only to house a team but to honor the success stories that define it.

At the heart of the layout, gallery inspired vignettes showcase partner achievements — photographs from memorable gatherings, curated artwork from Bay Area artists, and display shelves that hint at growth, evolution, and discovery.

These elements reinforce the firm’s identity as a thoughtful, humble partner in progress, inviting guests to walk through stories of innovation, relationship, and transformation. The material palette — end-grain wood floors, warm natural finishes, and refined textures — grounds the space in authenticity and optimism.

An office designed to reflect a company’s ethos: thoughtful, evolving, and quietly impactful.

CapitalG’s new headquarters in the Ferry Building is a study in intentional design. BAMO’s approach was less about spectacle and more about creating a workspace that feels quietly confident, layered with moments of discovery. A curved reception desk with a hexagonal mosaic inspired by the CapitalG logo sets the tone, introducing a story of structure and transformation. From there, light, openness, and calm guide the experience.

Unlike traditional tech offices, this environment is rooted in emotional connection. Framed views of the Bay and thoughtfully placed seating zones invite reflection and exchange, while artwork by local artists adds voice and texture. Custom millwork and warm finishes reinforce a sense of craft and care.

Every transition was choreographed with hospitality in mind — from the layered entry to the soft separation of social and focus zones. In a historic setting once defined by connection and movement, CapitalG’s space extends that legacy with modern clarity.

“Our goal was to create a space that feels like an extension of CapitalG’s values — welcoming, intentional, and quietly confident. Every detail was designed to support connection, from the way light moves through the space to the stories layered into the materials and artwork. It’s a workplace, but more than that — it’s a reflection of how they partner, think, and lead.” Anne Wilkinson Principal, BAMO
