Soaring above the city with views of both bridges, this grand residence within San Francisco’s Millennium Tower was designed by BAMO to be a clean-lined space for displaying important works by Agnes Martin, Jeff Koons, and many others. The owner is a long-time client, avid art collector, and previous SFMOMA board member.
The unit was purchased as a shell, a luxury bestowed upon only a few. Transforming the raw space into a dream residence and gallery required architectural chops; impeccable detailing was critical to achieving the Mies-ian inspired design. The space is swathed in bright white, with Yves Klein blue punctuating the core wall. A dark walnut box contains the kitchen. Underfoot, a cerused oak floor provides cohesion within the public spaces. Standout pieces include a sculptural “sofa” by Zaha Hadid, a classic Michael Taylor sofa reupholstered in silk velvet, and a custom John Boone coffee table.
