Located on a lush hillside in Healdsburg, the clean lines of this house are contemporary and sophisticated. It’s classic California – comfortable, warm, and handsomely elegant.
The property was designed not as a static show house, but an environment that could and would change over time. Furniture and accessories were selected to work well together, knowing that the collection would grow and contract. With elements gathered from all over the world, everything is beautiful but nothing is overly precious. The living room alone displays French 1940’s armchairs, an Axel Vervoordt table, seventeenth-century carved wood Japanese warriors and a plaster table lamp designed by Alberto Giacometti for Jean-Michel Frank.
Daylight is the largest influence on the color palette. The clients did not want to cover anything up; the dining areas are the only locations with window coverings. Tempered by strategically designed awnings, California sun permeates the space. At night, well-chosen lighting becomes critical to maintaining warmth.
